Late last year, Warner Bros. Studio registered multiple websites that seemed to fit within the plans of the next Batman game from the Rocksteady Series. The next iteration in the series was brought forth on the conference call in regards to earnings for the company. Though the call took place last week, the confirmation came at an interesting time when looking at the launching of the next generation systems. While exciting, some unfortunate news came from the announcement as well, VG247 was able to confirm the game will not be made Rocksteady Studio.
John K. Martin, CFO and Chief Administrative Officer of Time Warner said on the call, “And we also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise. So all in all, we expect Warner’s to post another very strong year in 2013. And with a little luck, the year should be as good or maybe even a little bit better than 2012.” Batman fans will surely be clamoring for the next game to hit store shelves at least by the end of their financial year if not the end of 2013. Though we may not see the game only on the XBOX 360’s or PS3’s, and maybe not at all.
When looking at the fact that the game is confirmed in development, it will be interesting to see what Warner Bros. has in store for the game which is likely to be debuted at E3. I am sure that with a new studio taking over one of the most important gaming franchise to the company that development windows will be extended to keep the fans of the series satisfied with the next offering. The game also being in development at this point also pays homage to the fact that since most companies have had development kits for at least the last year, that the game would be a logical launch title for the next generation. A definite system seller.
It is still possible that the game could simply be a title for the 360 and PS3, and only that, but at this point the arrows are leaning toward the fact that the game will at the very least be a two generation release. Are you just as excited for the new Batman game now that Rocksteady isn’t making the game? Do you think the game will be a system seller for next-gen consoles? Let us know in the comments.
