Video Game Verdict: March 26th – March 30th

WOW! It’s Tuesday already? Man does the week fly by when there are a slew of titles to play and keeping us busy. Well, seeing that it’s launch day again, here we are with the Video Game Verdict to tell you whether you should Buy, Rent, or Leave this weeks titles. It has been a great month so far and this week doesn’t look to be anything different with major titles for just about every console (Sorry Vita). Bioshock Infinite, Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon, Tiger Woods 14, and Army of Two: Devil’s Cartel headline this weeks titles, so lets see what we have for titles this week. Before we get to the games though, lets meet our Tribunal. First, we have me of course, Aaron. Followed by Nick, Vivek, and Phillip. We’ll get to the lack of guests at the end. (Sad Face)

Bioshock Infinite

Release Date: March 26th | Launching on: xbox_logo_simagesCART100Vth_os_windows

Oh Boy! Here is quite the dandy to kick off the week, Bioshock Infinite. Taking everyone’s favorite underwater world, and transferring it to the opposite end of the spectrum; that city in the sky. The goal is similar to a Mario type “Save the Princess Story”, but with guns, bad-ass machines, and kick-ass graphics! What could be better? In our minds not much because this was a simple choice for all of us. Bioshock has been a staple of gaming since the first title launched on the Xbox 360 as an exclusive. Seeing that Rapture is no more, or at least not the focus of this story, Irrational Games took a big risk and had to convince some that Bioshock still belonged in the title. Even if your not a huge Bioshock fan, you owe it to yourself to give this game a shot. We were completely unanimous on our decision for this one, and are naming it our Chuck Norris Approved – Game of The Month as far as purchases go. Want a sure thing, buy this game, because this is as close to a sure fire shot that you’ll get in gaming.

Metacritic Average: 95

The Verdict:

Individual Picks:

Aaron: Buy it, Nick: Buy It, Vivek: Buy It, Philip: Buy It

Quote: I’m not a Bioshock man, but I’m curious as hell about Infinite.

Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon

Release Date: March 26th (Original Release for the 24th of March) | Launching on: imagesCAVHM58N

One of the most popular titles from the Gamecube is making it’s sequel available on a portable this time in Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon. The game follows everyone’s second favorite plumber (I feel bad for Luigi, he always takes a back seat), as he attempts to find shards of the Dark Moon in, well, some haunted Mansions. Everyone should know that this game was how Luigi’s Mansion was originally envisioned. On the original game Nintendo toyed with the idea of launching a 3D Monitor for the first game to be compatible with the Gamecube. We can thank Luigi for the 3DS! In thanking him, we think the best way is to simply show our support and by his newest game; I mean what more could a plumber want? A Plunger?

Metacritic Average: 85

The Verdict:

Individual Picks:

Aaron: Buy it, Nick: Buy It, Vivek: Buy It, Philip: Buy It

Quote:It’s like Ghostbusters and Super Mario Bros. had a baby.

Army of Two: Devil’s Cartel

Release Date: March 26th | Launching on:imagesCART100Vxbox_logo_s

You remember the two muscle heads that represent the company that publishes their games, right. You know those guys Tyson and Rios that we swear are a perfect representation of EA, simply because they are all about brawn (or the number of games that they pump out), and not to much for the brains (or understanding what people want in games). All joking aside, this one isn’t about the lovable run-happy duo, instead this time they are mentoring a couple of other no name beefy dudes that just so happen to be going up against the Mexican Drug Cartel. Litterally they have NO names, Alpha and Bravo is about as creative as it gets. The previous titles haven’t been bad by any means, they are light hearted and fun, if not shallow in their story. This one has us torn as it may, at the very least looks like it’s worth a rent, but on the other hand may not worth anything at all.

Metacritic Average: 84

The Verdict:

Individual Picks:

Aaron: Rent it, Nick: Leave It, Vivek: Rent It, Philip: Leave It

Quote: You read the title right? And you’re considering it? Leave it on the shelf and walk away.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour ’14

Release Date: March 26th | Launching on: imagesCART100V xbox_logo_s

Well just like Madden we have another yearly release from your friendly neighborhood golfer, Tiger Woods. This time, well, yeah we don’t really know what to say about this one; its another yearly release of a golf game. Tiger Woods is a ton of fun, but yearly there really isn’t much that changes from title to title. Sure a couple of things are added and subtracted, but is it worth sixty bucks, really? Well in our minds, not so much as yet again it’s a unanimous decision, but not in terms of shelling out the cold hard cash; instead hold on to it and leave this one at the store until it drops in price, or just pick up the 2013 version, because not enough has changed between the two. (Remember what I said about EA; eh, eh…)

Metacritic Average: 81

The Verdict:

Individual Picks:

Aaron: Leave it, Nick: Leave It, Vivek: Leave It, Philip: Leave It

Quote: The annual continuum of sports games like these is just…Maddening.

So that is our take on this weeks games, as to what we think you should do with your hard earned paper. It probably isn’t our place to tell you what to do, but we will anyways. Trust us we’ve made plenty of bad decisions with games so take it from us and be choosy with your purchases. Which brings us to our last point, wouldn’t you like to tell other people what to do with their money too? Join us!! Let us know either on N4G, in the comments below, or on Twitter. Tweet us @VirtualKatz and let us know you want to be a guest and have YOUR comments featured. This week we didn’t have anyone join us, hence the sad face, but we know we’ll get some new faces for next time. Unfortunately, we are heading into the dead period of games over the next couple of weeks, so we have a limited number for next week. Just think of it this way, it will give your wallet some much needed time to recover, and no top of that some time to play some of the recommendations. Until next time, when we check out Defiance, and possibly a XBLA or PSN game along the way too! Court is adjourned.

Bioshock Infinite and Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon look awesome! I’m afraid the others aren’t really my thing, but I’ll definitely be breaking out my 3DS for some ghost hunting!
