It’s been less than a week since Warner Bros. announced the Man of Steel sequel would feature Superman and Batman. We’re already getting reports of possible casting for the new Batman. According to Cosmic Book News, Tyler Hoechlin will be testing for the role of Batman, and he is being strongly considered. Although this is only a rumor, this website seems to be a reliable source when it comes to DC news. They are saying that Hoechlin is testing alongside Henry Cavill, which is a pretty big deal. Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder want to replicate what they did with Cavill by bringing in a lesser known actor. The article also mentions that some well-known actors may be testing for the part, but doesn’t mention any names. Hoechlin was Tom Hanks’ son in Road to Perdition, but he is most well-known for his recent role on MTV’s Teen Wolf series. I, however, have never watched it.
The site also goes on to say that the Batman reboot was originally going to be based on Batman Arkham video game series, but those plans were tossed out when Warner Bros. wanted both Superman and Batman films out before Justice League. Snyder and Goyer have combined two films into one. If that is the case, they stumbled upon the best decision they’ve ever made.
The next part gets a little spoilerish, but it’s all still rumors.
They also say that there will be more than one villain in the film, and Lex Luthor is pretty much locked in with the Joker being a strong possibility for another team-up that would blow everyone’s mind. The film will be set one year after Man of Steel. The two superheroes do not trust one another, but that doesn’t stop them from teaming up against the unknown villains. That about does it. I’m sure we will hear much more news, rumors, debate about all things leading up to the film in 2015. As a bonus, you can check out Nick’s Justice League dream cast right here.
