Finally, we have some casting news for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Chris Pratt (Park and Recreation) has been cast as the lead character, Peter Quill aka Star-Lord. He was not on the long list of potential cast members that included everyone from Joel Edgerton to John Krasinski and everyone in between. According to Collider, Pratt has been officially cast.
James Gunn (Slither) is directing Guardians of the Galaxy, so we can expect there to be plenty of humor. It is also a sci-fi adventure that will take Marvel to space. Star-Lord is a half human, half alien character that shares a physical link with a space ship.
I knew it would only be a matter of time before Pratt got a superhero gig. However, I was hoping he would be cast as The Flash in The Justice League film. I didn’t think this was an option for him, but I’m really excited to see him have this kind of opportunity. Besides being a funny man, he also have been in dramatic films like Moneyball and Zero Dark Thirty. I can’t wait to see Pratt take the Marvel Universe by storm.
What are your thoughts on the news? Do you agree it’s about time that Pratt secured a superhero movie? It’s only fitting that his “big” break involves both action and comedy.
