Some interesting news from Toshihiro Nagoshi, the creative mind behind the Yakuza series, that Yakuza 5 would be the last version to hit the PlayStation 3; all but confirming that this would be the start of the PlayStation 4′s life cycle. While we all know about the big February 20th reveal that is seemingly confirmed to be the PlayStation 4 event, Nagoshi may have dropped some news in the interview that Sony may have wanted to keep under wraps.
In his interview with Dengeki PlayStation – via Gematsu (translation) – a Japanese magazine, Nagoshi confirmed that this would indeed be the last Yakuza on the PS3, but also attested to the fact that the next Yakuza will be a more “physical experience”. While he may not have brought the drawings with him, many fans had hoped that the last attempt by Sony to integrate a motion-controller to the next PlayStation would be just that, its last.
Instead, Nagoshi’s claim that the game would be a more physical experience lends credit to the drawings and blueprints of a PlayStation controller like the ones we have seen with the Move-like glowing balls atop what is presumably the DualShock 4. What it also lends credit to is the fact that these will likely have the ability to strap onto your ankles or feet and allow your legs to be a part of the experience, much like Microsoft’s XBOX Kinect.
This could of course mean that Sony is choosing to go to a controller-less experience like the Kinect to allow gamers to play games with their full body and have nothing attached, unwiring them from the experience. As state before it looks as though gamers will have another gripe when it comes to the next set of systems, from the possibility of no used games to forcing another motion controller to attempt a more wide appeal. Seems as though the next generation of consoles are losing their appeal to the most important market of all, before they are even revealed.
What do you think about the comments made about the physical experience? Are you more frustrated by each passing rumor or are you just as excited as you were about the next generation? Sound off and let us know in the comments below!
