Jason Momoa Lands Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy?

Things are starting to heat up in regards to casting for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Just a couple of weeks ago we told you that Chris Pratt landed the lead role of Peter Quill aka Star-Lord. According to Latino Review, Jason Momoa flew to London and tested for the part of Drax the Destroyer. It’s still in the midst of negotiations, but he apparently knocked it out of the park and got an offer on the spot. Now it’s just back and forth trying to seal the deal.

Momoa is best known for his roles in the Conan remake, and in Game of Thrones. He was great in Game of Thrones. He is a very big guy, charismatic, and has a menacing look to him. I give him a pass on Conan because that was just a bad idea from the start. Based on looks alone Momoa fits the role of Drax the Destroyer. This was such a spot on casting decision, that I don’t know why it wasn’t thought of sooner.

Drax the Destroyer is a huge part of the Guardians of the Galaxy team. He is a former human brought back in a different body after his family was killed by Thanos. He possess great power. His only mission in life – To kill Thanos. His role will probably be more of an enforcer who doesn’t necessarily play nice with the team, aside from everyone wanting to kill Thanos.

Things are shaping up on Guardians of the Galaxy. I was worried that Marvel wouldn’t be able to take their films anywhere new after The Avengers. Taking things to space really opens up The Marvel Universe. Everything involving Marvel’s “cosmic” side is fun and exciting. Now, just take back Silver Surfer from Fox and I’ll be a happy man.

I think Momoa would be great as Drax. This is good news, though I remain skeptical about the property and its chances on the whole.

I completely agree. As excited as I am about Marvel going in this direction, I still think it could be their biggest failure.

I've gotta think Sean Bean will pick up something if they don't pull him into Start Wars. Haha

Sean Bean would make a great Dr. Doom in the Fantastic Four reboot.

No freaking kidding. That is a great idea. Doom has to be a serious badass otherwise they need to never put him in another movie again.
