This project is moving forward like a group of Velociraptors (pun entirely intended). A fourth Jurassic Park movie has been in the works for years, to the point that I was sure it was either going to die, or be rushed. However, once they grabbed Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) to direct the fourth film titled Jurassic World, it suddenly shot back to life and is seemingly residing on everyone’s list of one of the most anticipated films for 2015.
Today, according to Deadline, Universal is looking at Josh Brolin to star in this next film. Here is what they had to say:
Universal Pictures is circling Josh Brolin to star in Jurassic World, the Colin Trevorrow-directed 3D sequel that the studio will release June 12, 2015. No deal yet, but I hear it’s headed that way.
I would say it’s kind of a given if he were to be cast, that he would be the lead of the film which is exciting to me. Brolin looks like the paleontologist type for a possible reboot of this series; and not to mention the guy can act. Sam Neill did a great job, but it’s time for some new blood to dawn the hat and Brolin is the right guy to hold this up, as well as the others who have been cast.
About a month ago it was announced that Bryce Dallas Howard would be starring in the film, but it is unknown who her character is, or what she will be doing. Alongside her will be Iron Man 3‘s Ty Simpkins who, personally, I think will be fantastic as the child lead. With the many quibbles that Iron Man 3 has from people, they didn’t screw up a child co-star as Star Wars had. Simpkins was pretty great in the film and I think he is a brilliant casting choice for Jurassic World. Same goes for Nick Robinson who was cast to be Simpkins’ older brother. Your guess is as good as mine, but I’m fairly certain there will be a brother/father dynamic as these characters are attempting to survive from dinosaur attacks.
This is going to be a huge summer tent-pole in 2015, no question; and with Spielberg only executive producing, maybe something completely new will come from this reboot. The more that is announced from this project, the more excited I become. So far the casting seems perfect, especially with Brolin. Hopefully there will be more news released soon.
Jurassic World is scheduled for a June 12, 2015 release date. What do you guys think of this casting news? Do you think Brolin is a perfect choice? Do you think there could be someone better? Please your thoughts in the comments below.
