Slowly but surely The Cinematic Katzenjammer will be including a lot more video games news and reviews into the lineup. Under the category of Virtual Katz, expect to see a lot more news about gaming in general. Onward!
Nintendo announced in a presentation today, an HD remake of Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, one of the most popular games in the Zelda franchise. Originally on the Gamecube, Wind Waker will be remastered to work on the Wii U and will be compatible with the new system’s gamepad as well as slight upgrades to make the game even better. This is huge news for anyone a fan of not only the series, but the specific game as well. Arguably the best Zelda came to date, Nintendo hopes to reinvigorate fans and introduce new ones to the series about a boy named Link and his adventures in Hyrule. Below are screenshot comparisons of the Gamecube version with the new Wii U version.
Quite the difference, eh? In the same presentation, Nintendo also discussed a couple of titles heading to the Wii U, including a Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei crossover and revealed a trailer for Monolith Soft’s newest title, X, which looks to be a blend of Nintendo’s successful Xenoblade Chronicles and the massively popular Monster Hunter. Check out the trailer below.
I’m a huge fan of Xenoblade Chronicles and it was one of the few reasons in recent memory for me to actually get my Wii out and play. X looks to be very similar in the style (open-world, MMO combat) and may give me a reason to crack down and get a Wii U.
What are your thoughts on the news? Do you think you’ll be getting a Wii U this year or is the lineup still too weak to justify a purchase? Expect a ton of stuff revealed at this year’s E3, including a bunch of Mario titles that will certainly try to convince us to put the money down on a Wii U.
