I have high hopes that Liam Neeson will never be too old to hold an entire action film. He’s been an action star for as long as I can remember, who would show us that he could handle the drama genre as well. It wasn’t until his wife died that he tapped into the rough-and-tumble persona for years to come, more than any other genre of filmmaking. It’s a sad thing, but every year or so we get to see Neeson perform his particular set of skills, and for the majority of the time it couldn’t be more fun. The trailer for Non-Stop doesn’t look to change that as the excitement rises exponentially. I hold Neeson as the Harrison Ford of this generation (look over the past 10-15 years), and Non-Stop might as well be his Air Force One.
After boarding a plane, air marshall Bill Marks (Neeson) continues to get mysterious texts from someone on the very same plane claiming that they will kill a passenger every 20 minutes. Action ensues, mysteries begin to unfold, and blame begins to be put on Marks. Check out the trailer below:
Our Irish action hero is once again teaming up with Unknown director Jaume Collet-Serra (no pun intended) for this high-octane thrill ride that looks to go non-stop (pun intended). These are the kind of movies that I will watch any day because it has Liam Neeson kicking ass and that’s all you really need to care about right? And if we’re lucky, it could be more philosophical like The Grey and go the extra step to have a meaning. It’s doubtful, but you never know.
One concern is the possibility of a twist during the third act that might be obvious due to a casting problem. I think that Serra is smarter than that, however, the writers don’t have much experience having one only having written in television and the other nothing at all. If the twist is seen coming the film will fall apart, but we still get Liam Neeson doing what he does best.
Non-Stop is set to hit theaters on February 28th and also stars Julianne Moore, Corey Stoll, and Anson Mount. What do you guys think? Do you just want to see Liam Neeson do his thing? Are you excited to see where this goes? Please leave your thoughts in the comments below.
