Fresh off the backlash of being announced as the new Batman, Ben Affleck is getting back behind the camera…for a TV pilot! Collider reports that Affleck will helm the pilot for potential Fox dram The Middle Man. The show follows 1960′s Boston-based FBI agent Rudy MacAteer as he tries to rid Boston of the Italian mafia, only to allow the Irish mob take over. On top of directing the pilot, Affleck will co-executive produce the show with The Middle Man screenwriter Glenn Gordon Caron.
For any Breaking Bad fans out there, if you find yourself in need of a lawyer after the Bad finale, well you Better Call Saul! As has been announced by several media outlets, the cheeky Breaking Bad lawyer, Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) will have his own one hour spin-off. The Wrap also reports that Giancarlo Esposito, who portrayed the calculating Gustavo Fring, is more than willing to revive his character for the prequel.
In more comic hero news, Entertainment Weekly reports that Glee star Grant Gustin will step into The Flash’s boots on The CW hit show Arrow. Depending on the success of his story arc, a spin-off series is planned for 2014.
Finally this week, The Emmys broadcast is scheduled for Sunday, 9/22 at 8 PM EST. The show, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, is the 65th annual broadcast of the awards show. Tune in to FXX on 9/21 to catch the Creative Arts Emmys as well.
