News Recap: “Bird of Prey”, “The Rugrats”, Sacha Baron Cohen, and More

The Wrap reports that Margot Robbie’s rumored Birds of Prey film is officially a go and will follow Harley Quinn, The Huntress, Cassandra Cain, Black Canary, and Renee Montoya as the girls team up for a mission. Robbie will return as HQ with no word as to who will play the other roles. Who could you see in each role?

Sticking with DC news, here is an official poster for Aquaman. Could this mean a trailer is premiering soon or is this just to tie in with Shark Week? Aquaman hits theaters December 21.

Two of the remaining three Blockbuster Video locations are closing in Alaska, leaving one only location remaining in Bend, OR. Perhaps we will see movie-lovers beginning a pilgrimage to the Pacific Northwest.

Variety reports that Harrison Ford will star in Jack London’s Call of the Wild. The story tells of a lone prospector surviving in the wilderness alone and seems to be right up Ford’s alley. It’s good to see him accepting roles more fitting for his age and not a simple retread of past properties that have become incredibly stale.

The Emmy nominations were announced last week and shocked many with a handful of snubs and surprises. Ted Danson, for instance, earned his record-breaking 11th nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy series for his role in The Good Place. With the nominations freshly minted, we’ll have to wait and see what the odds are like for each nominee.

Sacha Baron Cohen’s new Showtime series, Who is America? premiered and is one hell of a trip. Cohen state’ that he is not out to just showcase the ridiculousness of politics, but to ruin the careers of some of the most corrupt and disillusioned individuals. Watch ten minutes of the premiere below.

Finally, in some surprising, yet unsurprising news, Nickelodeon announced that is reviving the beloved Rugrats series for 26 new episodes and a feature film. The original producers of the show are set to return. There is no news yet as to if the original cast will return or not.
